HousingWire Names Bliss Morris a 2016 Woman of Influence

First Financial Network congratulates our Founder and CEO, Bliss Morris for being named by HousingWire as a 2016 Woman of Influence. In 1989, Bliss established the first loan sale advisory firm in the nation, First Financial Network. She is recognized as a pioneer in creating the market for whole loan sales. This past year highlights incredible accomplishments for First Financial Network in serving advisory roles to Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FDIC and many of the nation’s banks in the valuation and sale of over $5 billion in residential loans. Morris is an expert on matters related to performing and non-performing residential and commercial loan sales, Government Sponsored Enterprises asset sales and loan valuation.

This is the sixth year that HousingWire has recognized the women leading our industry forward, and the nominations grow more competitive every year.

“The incredible accomplishments of these women span every part of our industry,” Sarah Wheeler, HousingWire Magazine Editor, said. “Their fields of accomplishments vary but their impact is indisputable.”

Some of HW’s 2016 award winners have worked their way up in traditional mortgage companies, while others started their own businesses. They have made their mark in marketing, technology, economics, compliance, asset management, operations and business development.

“Reading through this year’s nominations, one of the things that stood out about our winners is their tremendous value to the companies they run, or work for. This value comes not only from the job duties they perform — although those were impressive on their own merits — but also in the way they lead and mentor others within their companies,” Wheeler said.

Many of the winners mentor other women in the industry, run internship programs for college students or work with business groups in disadvantaged areas. Others coordinate volunteer programs for their employees or serve on advisory boards that inform the industry. Investing time and effort to see others succeed is a hallmark of this group, and should be celebrated in its own right.

“It’s the influence part of this award that is unique,” said Jacob Gaffney, Editor-In-Chief of HousingWire. “The impact of these women is expansive, going far beyond the day-to-day responsibilities they have. These are women who invest their time and energy for the future of our industry, with spectacular results.”
